Basecamp Coffee started with a simple belief: a great cup of coffee belongs anywhere the road takes you, including deep in the mountains of Pakistan. Our home is on the K2 Road in Shigar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, opposite Amacha Polo Ground and close to the historic Shigar Fort.

We built Basecamp as a place for the people of Shigar and for the travelers, filmmakers and climbers passing through. A warm stop before the climb. A place to meet, slow down, and enjoy coffee with the mountains close by.

Founded by filmmaker and entrepreneur Ammar ul Haq, Basecamp was shaped on the ground by skilled local craftsmen from Sildi village. The café brings together the texture of the valley, the character of mountain life and a belief in thoughtful, welcoming design.

Our roots are local. The hospitality is Pakistani. And everyone is welcome.

We take coffee seriously without making it complicated. On the bar you will find espresso, lattes, iced coffee and slow brews including V60 and AeroPress. Shaka, our head barista, trained with Nomad Coffee Studio, bringing specialty coffee skills to Shigar.

Our K2 Wild Thyme Tea is inspired by the flavors of the Karakoram. It sits alongside the coffee as a reminder that Basecamp is as much about this place as it is about what is in your cup.

A place for everyone

We welcome the family dropping in for tea, the friends meeting after a long day, the visitors discovering Shigar Fort and the expedition travelers heading towards the high mountains. We believe good hospitality should feel generous, relaxed and real.

Our vision reaches beyond one café: coffee, mountain tea, outdoor goods and gathering places inspired by Pakistan's north. As Basecamp grows, we want to carry the warmth and character of Shigar wherever we go.
